I was approached by Edward Jones in BC Canada. The hiring dude who supposedly was a former broker was supposedly in charge of hiring experienced advisers.

They booked me for a meeting with the "Partner" I sat for 45 minutes at a Hotel Lobby before he could be found. Once we met he told me this wonderful story about the culture of caring for people at Edward Jones, he closed by saying " I know this sounds too good to be true...I felt the same, give us a try, you would be glad you did". I was interested to open my shop in BC where we are located close to family and friends. Two days after the same hiring dude called to offer me a great and unique rare opportunity, to take over an established branch in AB.

He initially offered me a $ 15 million book, plus a base salary for 24 months, so I said lets do it. Shortly after talking a *** who claimed to be Regional Manager the offer was lowered to a $10 million book. So I said not interested to play games bye. They called me again to increase the initial offer and add an additional $5million for me to move into Northern AB.

I committed to complete their process which usually takes 3 to 6 months into 4 weeks. My wife and I worked full time to get everything ready for the move, there was tons of paperwork to complete for Edward Jones, plus home and school and other things to be arranged. In the meanwhile spoke to some friends who left Edward Jones for good and they all had the same take it is a cult and they hire rookies who don't ask questions and can follow their cookie cutter approach to financial services. I contacted the hiring dude and asked for confirmation the process was going to happen, he said 100%.

So we spent thousands of dollars in getting the vehicles ready, new tires, breaks, service, etc, etc. Then we sold about half our furniture including our King size bed, in preparation for the move. We cancelled memberships, pulled our kids from school and soccer club, etc, etc. Then all the sudden their ignorant staff in the US head office started to ask *** questions.

I had provided all the required information plus more in anticipation but they were lazy and ignorant to not open the documentation I had paid to obtain confirming my good standing on the former jobs for the industry. I called the *** bag hiring guy and asked him for confirmation he said is a go, sorry if not around but have been sick with a cold. So we cancelled our hydro (power) cable and phone, gave notice to our landlord. Then four days before the move the idiots at their US office claimed they could not reach six 6 of the employers to verify non-financial positions some of them spanning over 10 yrs ago.

I contacted most of the former employers and they confirmed that no-one had contacted them and their willingness to provide the reference. I contacted the lead in Canada and said I am not sure what this colleague of your in the US is looking for but if she made the calls the information could be verified. Then Mr *** bag called me and said we are pulling the plug on the process. I begged them to consider the consequences to my family as a firm that supposedly cares for employees and family.

Their response we need you to send back the computer and printer. I would never recommend this company to anyone neither as a career opportunity nor for their financial advice, they are ignorant and their advisers are not experienced all the good ones cross into other shops.

In addition they usually prey on the ignorance of the consumer offering the most expensive funds and packaged solutions, they are known for selling front end load mutual funds which lock consumers for 3 to 5 yrs. Beware of these wolves in sheep's skin.

Monetary Loss: $10000.

Given your vulgarity and improper use of the english language, I'm surprised that you made it into the hiring process at all. Isn't it interesting that people will tell you "their" truth many ways before they'll lie to you.

The fact that you were "offered" an office with any assets is amazing. Please tell us where you're working now so we can all avoid.

Vulgarity...sure why don't you reveal your real your own name and position as a "fluffer" for EJ? Coward.

Why should someone on this type of rant blog write a polite comment towards a company that clearly lies and caused me thousands of dollars in losses and a great deal of tension in my marriage?

EJ approached me as I am a MBA candidate my first and second language are no English.

How many do you speak? Clearly you are a minion of the EJ otherwise why would you even care?

Congratulations, you can speak multiple languages!!! Can you explain how or why that sets you apart from a financial services position?

As for the advisors being inexperienced and EDJ being such a terrible chop shop, my question sir is this...Why would YOU ever begin this process of working for such crooks? I mean YOU have an MBA and speak multiple launguages, I would assume that most corporations are begging you to come work for them. As for your family or marriage being affected by the final outcome I truely am sorry as I have a family of my own. However, just because things didn't work out in your favor, how can you bad mouth the advice or services offered by a company you had PLANNED on working for?

Again, I'm sorry for your troubles but you really shouldnt act like a child whining and crying and making comments just because something didn't go your way. If you want to complain about your experience fine.

Saying things about how bad EDJ advice, service or advisors in general are make you sound dumb. One day it's your dream job, the next they are the worst company ever...interesting.
